Army School Pathankot is being run by Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), a body registered under the societies registration Act XXI of 1860 and functioning at Army Headquarters, NEW Delhi . The school is governed according to the rules and regulations for Army Schools, issued by AWES and approved by Army Headquarters. Prior to April 1982 the school was run by HQ 21 Sub Area as a Regimental Garrison school and designated as Army school Pathankot w.e.f.03 Apr 1982.Classes I to VII , Geo & Computers (jr) Labs are in re-appropriated buildings. Classes VIII to XII are in the building constructed by MES and was handed over to school in Oct 1997. Since then the Sr wing Classes are functional in the new building & Labs for Physics, Chemistry & Biology has been added to senior wing which were initially running in the reappropriated building. The school is affiliated as Senior Secondary School with CBSE. The first batch of X Std passed out in 1986 & that of XII std in 1988.

The school has 1951 students on roll as on 31 March 2007 distributed in 55 sections. In Sr Sec Classes we have Science, Commerce & Humanity streams. We are Introducing BIOTECHNOLOGY from session 2007-2008. The average strength of students per section is about 35. There are total of 67 Teaching Staff members teaching these students. The school has established three comptr labs (Sr Sec, Sec & Pry wing equipped with latest machines / eqpts /internet facility by adding Pentium IV computers, LCD Projectors & mimios. 20 new computers of latest technology have been added during this academic year.

School has a well equipped and automated library of 6243 Books.

The School is presently housed in spacious accommodation in Lush green environment of Pathankot Cantt.

School has installed 5x water coolers with Aqua guard for provision of cold water facility to the students and 2 x water coolers are being added in the current academic year.

"Class on the Web" software has been running successfully and interactive education through V-Sat is functional for the last one year.

A NCC Platoon of 100 Boys (Jr Div) started during Oct 1996. We also have a Platoon of 50 Girls NCC Cadets (Jr Div) stated w .e.f. 2001. Our boys and girls NCC Cadets have won over all trophies during their Annual Trg Camp in Last academic year.
